2011 Festes de la Merce

Barcelona is known for hosting number of colourful festivals which attract people to its culture and heritage. It has several colourful festivals all the year such as Sonar, Sant Jordi and Festes de Gracia. Among them Festes de la Merce is the most popular and biggest festival in Barcelona which is attraction of people. The festival is celebrated in honour of Mare de Deu de la Merce, the patron saint of city Barcelona. Th festiva Festes de la Merce 2011 will take place from September 22nd to September 25th. You can fully enjoy a variety of colourful events, that includes dance and musical performances, fireworks, parades ,acrobatics and many more. There use to be a Castellers competition, where you will see groups of people in colourful traditional costumes, forming towers up to eight people. Definitely the festival will incomplete, if you do not enjoy a few glasses of Cava, the local sparkling wine.
